New SharePoint Shepherd's Guide On Shelves Soon
As the release date for SharePoint 2010 approaches, one SharePoint expert is planning updates of his own for a new version of The SharePoint Shepherd's Guide for End Users. Robert Bogue, author of the 2008 edition of the book that featured SharePoint 2007, is currently re-vamping this end-user oriented guide to SharePoint -- updating it to include SharePoint 2010 features, as well as adding new topics that might have been missed the first time around. "While we believe that the 2007 version of the book was good we want to make the 2010 version even better," Bogue said in a recent interview. "Because of that we're soliciting for some help. We'd love to hear about either the SharePoint 2007 tasks that you or the users you work with are commonly needing to remember. Or if you've had time to spend with SharePoint 2010 we'd love to hear about the key tasks, concepts, or areas that you believe will be critical to users being able to effectively use the 2010 version of SharePoint." The SharePoint Shepherd's Guide uses a visual step-by-step approach that covers many of the common tasks that every user uses. The highly successful book contains 116 tasks, and is available as traditional hardcopy, as well as electronically through corporate licenses. Topics included in the first edition include collaboration, user management, and web page creation. Bogue hopes to add to hundred-plus task set to highlight new 2010 features and those little tricks that SharePoint users invariably find without the documentation. "Our goal is to create the best end user materials out on the market--just like we feel we are for SharePoint 2007," Bogue added. The new edition of the book is currently scheduled to be released in late June. Input on the book can be sent to Bogue directly.
